A major modernization project has begun at Tbilisi International Airport

Work has officially begun in Tbilisi on one of the largest projects to expand and modernize Tbilisi International Airport. More than 150 million USD, and upon completion, the airport’s capacity will increase to 10 million passengers per year.

The goal of the project is to build a modern airport that meets international standards, improve passenger comfort, promote the development of tourism, and strengthen Georgia’s position as a major transportation hub in the region.

The airport expansion comes at a time of dynamic growth in Georgia's aviation sector. In 2025, the international airports in Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutaisi served a combined total of 8.5 million passengers, marking a historic record.

The following companies are collaborating on the project TAV Airports, Groupe ADP and TAV Georgia.

To mark the start of the project, a time capsule was ceremonially placed in the building's foundation.
